5 out of 5 stars Wine Cellar   December 1, 2009

Packaging was great and the temp began dropping rapidly as soon as plugged in. So far the temps have stayed where we set them and haven't had the shut off problem mentioned in one of the reviews we read. Very quiet and able to hold a blend of magnum and regular bottles with ease. Not bad for a counter top machine and perfect for our life style which consumes a bottle or two a week.

5 out of 5 stars Very pleased!!   December 24, 2009

Very pleased with the wine cooler, the product is just what it's called, "A Wine Cooler/cellar"...not a refrigerator. Eye appeal is a 10, looks great in our kitchen, construction 10, cooling ability 10, gets bottle temps to temps that are listed in instruction book. The only thing I can knock it on is the fact it doesn't turn back on after a power outage, but the instructions tell you this, so it's not that big a deal if you know it up front. It' not a $50 cooler and it's not a $1500 cooler, it's for the person that enjoys an occasional glass of wine, not the connoisseur.

So far so good. I can't tell if the temperature is holding or not, though.

1 out of 5 stars dead after 6 months   February 24, 2010

This is my 3rd, yes 3rd Cuisinart wine cellar. The first one I received as a wedding gift. It leaked and died after one year. I called Cuisinart and they gladly replaced it, with me paying the $50 shipping fee to return it.

Wine cellar #2 sounded like an airplane was taking off and suddenly spiked to 85 degrees ruining a $200 bottle of wine. Another $50 return shipping fee.

Wine cellar #3, the 1600, looked good, didn't make much noise and seemed to hold a steady temperature. Until one day when I noticed the blue light had gone off and went to turn the power back on. Nothing. It lasted less than 6 months.

Cuisinart is now refusing to replace it because it's out of the original 3 year warranty. Apparently the warranty on the original machine is the timeline that they use. Nevermind that it is absolutely ridiculous to have to go through 3 wine cellars in 3 years. The customer service was incredibly disappointing and now I am left with a dead cellar.

Cuisinart did offer to sell me a new one at reduced cost. Hmmm...isn't that the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing again and again and expecting different results? Buyer beware.

1 out of 5 stars Totally agree this is a TERRIBLE wine refrigerator!!   August 25, 2009

Don't count on having cold wine when you get back from vacation because the slightest power fluctuation turns it off. Also, the racks are so tightly spaced that you can't fit anywhere near 16 bottles if they're champagnes or otherwise larger than average. Finally, the cooling capability is really wimpy and it won't cool your wine below about 50F if the ambient room temperature is around 72F. This was a warranty replacement for a CWC-1200 which at least fit bigger bottles. I'm kind of hoping for this one to die soon so I can replace it.
