There are some challenges in designing the guest room in different houses due to the difference in size, location and form. The guest room should be made fancy enough since this is the room that all guests that come will see. The key to guest room design is that it should be made spacious, just the exact opposite of kitchen design principal, so that the guests will feel comfortable in it.

For practical reasons, some people prefer to eliminate the guest room from their house layout. Especially in small houses, people tend to merge guest room into other room, like in the kitchen principal tricks. Friendly guests can be served in the living room, while terrace is sufficient for common guests.

But for some, guest room has important role on the house architecture. For them, guest room reflects the host’s character. In small houses whose owner insist on owning a guest room, they have to be really clever on designing it so that it won’t take to much space, but fancy enough to entertain the guests. A correct rugs choice will surely help liven up the whole room. By picking a balanced and themed area rugs can give an elegant feel to whoever sees it. And the best part that is it isn’t necessarily expensive to do. Cheap rugs can look expensive if you do it the right way.

Since small houses will have small guest’s rooms, don’t put too much furniture in it, unlike kitchen design consideration where everything is placed within reach. One double seat sofa, one single seat sofa and a small table is sufficient. If there is still some space put another small table in the corner. Put each one of the as close as possible to the wall to give a spacey feel.

Play mix and match with different kind of sofa to give an unusual look. Try to mix a different sofa in shape, design and color in one guest room. To blend the sofa together use matching tables or rugs that can accommodate both sofa designs.

The bathroom is probably the most overlooked room in your home because most people do not feel that the amount of time they spend there warrants the expenditure of money or energy on undertaking a renovation project.
